THE
BASEBALL BOYS – ‘NEVER TOLD LIES’

By
1983, John Spinks had been sharpening his musical skills and developing
his songwriting at Scarf Studio in East London. Working day jobs
and gigging all around England by night as The Baseball Boys, the
band was on an endless carousel of studio time and gigs. Around
this time, the band released a limited pressing of the single “Never
Told Lies’ b/w ’Girl’s Story’ that was produced
by Mark Lewis and John Spinks. The ‘A’ side of the record,
‘Never Told Lies’, features the dual vocals of Tony
Lewis and John Spinks, a combination that would prove to be part
of the band’s signature sound. For the ‘AA’ side
of the record, John Spinks took lead vocals on the catchy ‘Girl’s
Story’. As an official website exclusive, please enjoy the
single ‘Never Told Lies’.

VOICES
OF BABYLON REHERSAL TRACK: THE NIGHT AIN’T OVER
In
1988, The Outfield flew to Los Angeles to start rehearsing the tracks
for their third album, Voices of Babylon. This would be the band’s
first time working with producer David Kahne and considered my many
as The Outfield’s finest work. The demos that were written
for Voices of Babylon were all recorded at Scarf Studios in East
London. The closing song of ‘Side 1’ was the savvy ‘The
Night Ain’t Over’. For the first time ever, hear John,
Tony and Alan rehearse the song in its basic form at Sunset Sound
Studios in Los Angeles.
